Are our ministries and administrations ready for flatter hierarchies?

June 14, 2024 – Today begins an exciting journey for me to historic Meissen. I will spend the next two days in a monastery and engage in intensive discussions with high-ranking officials who lead ministries on the topic of leadership in the digital transformation.

Developing a new culture of leadership & organizational culture

These discussions revolve around central questions that affect us all:

  • Ability to lose control and delegation: How do we develop trust and relinquish control even at the highest levels? A bold step, but essential for enabling quick and flexible decisions. This is especially important in ministries – are we ready to share power and delegate responsibility?

  • Flatter hierarchies: Can we break free from traditional hierarchies and create a culture of collaboration? Flatter structures not only promote efficiency but also enhance innovation capabilities. Are our leaders ready to actively shape this change?

  • Psychological safety: An often underestimated factor – how do we create a work environment where employees feel safe to express their ideas and make mistakes? Only then can we truly be creative and innovative. Psychological safety is the key to an open and productive collaboration.

Relationship management: Building and maintaining relationships

I look forward to challenging conversations, inspiring impulses, and a valuable time with dear friends. Because I always use these trips to meet acquaintances with whom I have maintained a personal relationship for a long time – both virtually and in person!

I will keep you updated on the highlights of my journey!
