DigitalSchoolStory engages Generation Z in the joy of learning

October 14, 2023 – I am extremely excited to have been a member of the advisory board at DigitalSchoolStory gUG for several weeks now – an award-winning start-up that is revolutionizing the way we teach and learn.

For I am firmly convinced that

  • learning can be fun and

  • the leaders of tomorrow are already being shaped today in the classrooms.

The start-up DigitalSchoolStory inspires young people to learn

At DigitalSchoolStory, there is a colorful team of people from diverse disciplines united by their commitment to the learning of the future. They are all disturbed by the fact that students today “talk about TikTok on the playground, but often switch off in class.”

They want to jointly inspire young people to learn and turn them from mere social media consumers into creators – online, in the classroom, in society, and eventually also in companies – among other things, by equipping them with the necessary methodological and media skills through projects. For they, like me, are firmly convinced: learning can be exciting, and when it is perceived as relevant, even the parables in math class can be fun.

YouTubers and TikTokers are sponsors of the learning projects

This experience is shared with students by having them collaboratively create videos in social media format from the learning content in school, where they learn more than just the classroom material. And they are accompanied by well-known video bloggers and content creators from YouTube and TikTok as mentors.

I am proud to be part of this innovative team that also aims to shape a new generation of leaders – leaders who are prepared for the challenges of the digital world.

The two founders and CEOs of DigitalSchoolStory are Nina I. Mülhens and Siegfried Baldauf. I sincerely thank them for their trust and can only say: I am extremely looking forward to further exchanges of thoughts and experiences with them and their team, as well as collaboration with my fellow board members.

My fellow board members at DigitalSchoolStory

Dagmar Nietzer, an experienced graduate business economist and marketing expert, chairs the DigitalSchoolStory advisory board and brings her expertise from various educational projects. With the conviction that active shaping is the “superpower” of the 21st century, she passionately advocates for adolescents to take responsibility through DSS, benefiting both employers and society.

Carsten Knop, a digital expert and editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, extends his term at DigitalSchoolStory. He emphasizes the growing importance of learning and explanatory videos in the media landscape and sees the ability to communicate things quickly and understandably as a key competence that is important both in the classroom and in professional life.

Heiner Thorborg, one of Germany's leading recruitment consultants and founder of Generation CEO, rounds out the advisory board of Digital School Story. With his expertise, he aims to promote self-responsibility and content creation in education to raise students' awareness of both digital futures and equality of opportunity.

How DigitalSchoolStory creates new learning landscapes

As a board member, I will regularly inform you on my blog about the work of DigitalSchoolStory – among other things, as the insights gained will surely also be of relevance for shaping new (digital and hybrid) learning landscapes in businesses.
